Smart displays are a good compromise for developing a product with a GUI even for small series without a large budget. Today we would like to present a small project with our partner Winstar and show you how the functionality of these displays can be expanded.
The CAN protocol is leading in the field of industrial automation and is now indispensable. In this context, the Arduino board proves to be a valuable tool for system integration and as a host controller for smart displays, especially those without touch functionality.
With the help of the CAN protocol, an Arduino board can be used effectively for control, for example, with an OLED button display. To do this, the components are connected to one another and the programs are written with the Winstar Smart GUI Builder and the Arduino IDE.
This means that various functions of the smart display can also be controlled without a touch panel.
The following components are required for this application:
Smart Display Modbus 10.1″
ARDUINO UNO
OLED Display Rotary Knob Module
ST-Link CAN-Bus Dongle
Software GUI-Builder v0.4.2 or higher
Arduino IDE v2.0.4
