The cable gland manufacturer AGRO has now launched a new generation of compact multiple-cable-entry units for use in applications with special requirements: the MCE system. With this new product range, the company is now using its well-proven technology relating to radial compression of sealing elements in a new type of cable entry unit for installing non-preassembled cables. This enables multiple individual cables to be fed into or through a wall as close together as necessary, with strain relief based on EN 62444 and sealing according to protection class IP68. The new system can be useful in a wide range of applications, from building services, switch/distribution cabinets, IT and the processing industry, or to vehicle, aircraft, energy or maritime technology.
The extremely robust and reliable system consists of two corrosion-resistant aluminium half-casings, and comes in six sizes, each with between three and ten cable entries and a cable clamping range of 5.5 to 21 mm. The anodised aluminium halves are quickly and easily connected together, from the front, using six compression screws. Moulded rubber (NBR) elements, well-known and proven trough their use in AGRO cable glands, ensure strain relief and proper sealing. To facilitate quick replacement during maintenance work, the sealing inserts are designed with a suitable split. The operating temperature range is from -30 to +105 °C. No supplementary materials or lubricants are required for installation. The MCE system is very compact, measuring only 148 x 79 x 26 mm.
